How to Think Positive

Positive thinking can yield powerful results to our lives. We are what we think, and negative thoughts can actually cripple our lives. In order to lead a satisfying life we need to think positive. All our feelings, beliefs, knowledge are based on our internal thoughts. We are in control of our conscious and subconscious mind, all the time despite our knowledge about it. We have the right to choose to be positive or negative, enthusiastic or dull, active or passive.

Here are some suggestions to help your thoughts to be positive
  • Make a positive commitment to yourself.

  • Make sure you keep your mind focused on important things.  Develop a strategy when you are dealing with issues and obstacles.

  • Aim high, do your best and don’t look back. Dream about your success.

  • Be courageous, especially in times of troubles.

  • Don’t hesitate to try new things.

  • Keep track of your mental and physical wellbeing.

  • Learn to embrace life’s challenges; this will increase your stamina to withstand crisis and stress.

  • During hard times try your best to focus on the positive side [at least the neutral] for an instance when after a break up just think of it as a signal for a new
beginning for you or when you are temporarily unemployed you could take it as an opportunity for you to find a more satisfying job.

  • Good feelings can banish negative emotions. So don’t forget to not only feel good but also think about good things.
In the aftermath of 9/11 researchers found that those who donated blood, gave money, volunteered to help and had engaged themselves in various other positive steps had greater resilience from their shock, anger and grief. Doing something to help seemed to minimize their ongoing stress.

According to various studies people with positive attitudes recover from surgeries faster, have less heart disease, suffer less pain when they are ill, catch colds less frequently, and also live as much as 10 years longer. Those who are from potentially negative environments like growing up in poverty or with an alcoholic parent, succeed when they choose positive answers and work toward positive outcomes.

In order to create positive change you must try your best to be persistent, flexible and open to all information available [both negative and positive]. Think positive and live a satisfying life.

“Most folks are about as happy as they make up their minds to be.” Abraham Lincoln.
